I got hit by an Uber once as a pedestrian, he drove away, I phoned the police and they spent the whole time trying to decide if I can cross the road there or not, decided that it was a legal technicality and let me off with a warning for jaywalking. So in summary:

> "Hmm, should we solve the murder, or, maybe get somebody fined $100 for having an unauthorised video" ?

Don't be surprised to find out the answer is both.



It doesn't sound like that was a major crime. I mean, arguably it should be, but given you live somewhere with jaywalking laws I don't sense that.


Hit and run is generally a serious crime everywhere. In this experience it wasn't treated seriously, which is exactly my point.


My country defines "serious" as crimes where you'd expect an Adult who was guilty of this crime to get 3+ years detention, hit and run isn't even close unless it's on tape and you forgot to mention that you're a ghost and actually died but were questioned anyway.
