Did you used to have an axion: "All cpus we care about had altaVec?" All those CPUs are deperciated. The AVX-512 CPUs are depreciated. I have 4 different Xeon systems and none of them have AVX-512. It's a niche and it's cool... But in 4.5 years, we will probably not be having this discussion, and it's sad. Make a AVX-512 coprocessor/transputer please? Multi... So I can cram 3 of those in a PCIe lane and run database systems far and fast - with out oracle/ms-sql... And a broad range of compiler support... Put LAMP at the top of the heap... /End rant.
