Yeah: it really is a different world now: kids--who absolutely should not be locked out of access to development tools--pretty universally only have access to phones and tables, or, at best, a highly locked-down Chromebook; but like, it goes much further than even that: even lawyers I work with--people who you'd think MUST have a full computer--sometimes only work on an iPad!! :(

They do. It's just one that's locked down and user-hostile, designed as a consumption device.
