so for one thing, it really depends whether "great" means "loud" to you. I personally find the levels in most theaters to be uncomfortably loud, but maybe I'm just lame. unless you need to feel the floor shake, it's totally doable to have a great home theater experience in an apartment. $2000 can get you a pretty nice 55-60" tv and a capable audio system to go with it. $2000 is a lot of money for some people, but each movie outing for two is going to run $25+ these days. and this is for enthusiasts. a "just okay" HD setup is more like $500.

I kinda suspect it will be more like a CD-quality audio situation. is 1411 kbps PCM better than a 128 kbps AAC? yes, but for most people it doesn't outweigh the convenience of being able to stream on your phone. and people have shitty earbuds anyway because they don't care.
